The four jobs

GROW: the four jobs that grow a home service business

When we look at a home service business, whether it's one truck or twelve, we see four jobs that have to get done every day for it to grow. We call them GROW.

The GROW chart: Getting Found, Reply/Follow Up, Operations and Word of Mouth

Getting Found

Homeowners in your town find you when they search, ask an AI assistant or ask a neighbor, and what they find gives them a reason to call. It also covers your branding and the marketing people see before they ever search.

Reply/Follow Up

Every call, text and form gets a name, a quick reply and a follow-up until you hear yes or no. One person owns each inquiry, so nobody assumes somebody else already called the homeowner back.

Operations

Actually providing the service, along with the booking, scheduling, job notes, estimates and invoices around it, all running on a written way of doing things instead of your memory.

Word of Mouth

The customers you already served come back and send their neighbors, because someone stays in touch after the truck leaves the driveway.

Which letter is missing?

Most good businesses are strong at one or two of these and hope the others will take care of themselves. Sometimes it's a letter nobody owns, and sometimes it's one you own on paper but never get to because you're on a roof. Either way, once you can name the missing letter, you know where to start.
