Is your home service business growing the way it should? If not, we need to talk.

Home Service Guild is a home service marketing agency for plumbing, HVAC and electrical companies.

Every time you don't get the lead, the guy down the street does. It's time to take your share and put them out of business.

Every owner I sit down with says the same two things. The first is, I need more leads. The second comes later, and quieter: I never called the last batch back.

Our client LiveWell Mobility had six inboxes, and nobody knew whose job it was to answer them until we helped them straighten it out.

We work with a home services company in Texas called LiveWell Mobility. They have been at it since 2016, helping people stay in their own homes as getting around gets harder: stairlifts, home elevators, ramps, and bathrooms that are safe to use. Their own crews do the installs in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, and they are good at it.

What they could not see was their leads. Inquiries came in from the website, the phone, their field service software, and three online marketplaces, and each one landed in a different inbox. Nobody's job was to answer all of them. We pulled every inquiry into one list and integrated it with their Housecall Pro account, giving them end-to-end visibility and control.

What we built

We built the Home Service Guild Marketing Operations System used by LiveWell. It catches spam before anyone has to read it and tracks what the crews do in the field so nobody chases the same job twice. The owner gets an alert the moment a new inquiry comes in, and every morning he gets a list of the calls still waiting. We also rebuilt their website from top to bottom and fixed 91 problems we found along the way.

What changed

We went back to every inquiry that had slipped through and worked each one. The owner now sees every inquiry, quote, and job in one place. He owns every account we worked in, so he never has to ask an agency for a login to his own business. All directly integrated with their Housecall Pro account.

Growth is four jobs.

Gary Keller and Jay Papasan's book The ONE Thing taught me to look for the piece of work that makes the rest easier or unnecessary when it is done properly. In a home service business the honest truth is that there are four jobs you need to focus on, and you need a marketing operations system to handle each one of them. That is where Home Service Guild comes in.

Four overlapping circles: Getting Found, Reply/Follow Up, Operations and Word of Mouth. Where all four overlap is the business. Reply/Follow Up Word of Mouth GettingFound Operations the business

Getting Found.

Customers find you, and what they find gives them a good reason to call. That starts with helpful articles and pages on your website so you show up when someone in your town searches Google, and when they ask ChatGPT or another AI tool who to call. It includes a Google Business Profile that is complete and current, Google search ads, and Facebook and Instagram ads. It also means regular posts on your social pages so the people who already know you keep seeing your name. We track which of these bring in calls so your money goes where it works.

Reply/Follow Up.

Every inquiry lands in one place, with a name on it, and gets a reply. Phone calls, web forms, texts, and marketplace leads all flow into one list, and spam is filtered out before anyone has to read it. The owner gets an alert the moment a new inquiry arrives and a list each morning of the calls still waiting. Every quote that goes out gets followed up until the customer gives you an answer. It all connects to the field service software you already use, like Housecall Pro, so the office and the crews see the same thing.

Operations.

Booking, paperwork, and scheduling run on a system instead of living in your head. Customers can book a time online, and the details they give land in the job so nobody types them twice. Estimates, invoices, and payment reminders go out on their own. The schedule, the jobs, and the customer notes all live in your field service software, so a busy month does not depend on anyone's memory. When a task repeats every week, we automate it so the office spends its time on customers.

Word of Mouth.

The customers you already won come back and send their neighbors your way. After every job the customer gets a thank you and an easy way to leave a Google review. A reminder goes out when the next service is due, like a seasonal tune-up or the next cleaning. Past customers hear from you a few times a year by email or text, so yours is the name they remember. When a job goes well, they get a simple way to refer a friend.

Most owners are strong at one or two of these, and nobody in the business owns the rest.

What happens when nobody owns one of the four jobs

Which of these four stories sounds like your business?

Getting Found

She searched for what I do and never found me.

Late on a weeknight, a homeowner in your town searched for exactly what you do. A few names came up and none of them was yours, so she called the first one that answered.

That job could have been yours, and you never knew it existed.

Reply/Follow Up

I sent the quote and meant to follow up on it.

The quote went out on Wednesday. Nobody called about it on Thursday, and on Friday the truck was out on another job. By Monday the customer had hired someone else without ever saying why.

That is how the inquiries you already paid for slip away, one quote at a time.

Operations

A good month felt worse than a slow one.

Every job, call-back, invoice, and parts order had to go through your head. You got home at nine and the day was not over, because tomorrow's schedule was still in the truck.

A business that runs on your memory can only grow as far as your memory does.

Word of Mouth

She loved the work and told me so at the door.

Then a few seasons went by. When her neighbor needed the same job and asked around, your name never came up. Your work was as good as ever, but nobody ever asked her to pass your name along.

The cheapest customer you will ever win is the one you already have.

What keeps getting in your way

You are not alone in this. Like the hundreds of business owners we've worked with over the years, you will face headwinds. Some blow in with the seasons, and some build up slowly inside the business until they stall it. We help you understand the headwinds your business will face. More importantly, we give you the systems to deal with them and overcome them.

Feast or Famine.

The busy season ends and the phone goes quiet.

Spinning in Circles.

Without a clear plan, you end up trying everything.

Secret Agent.

You do good work, but nobody can find you.

The Vanity Trap.

You get likes and followers, but they never turn into calls.

The Leaky Bucket.

Leads and customers slip away while you are out on a job.

Always On.

The business never lets you switch off.

The first step is finding out which of these is hurting your business the most right now. From there, we put the system in place that deals with it.

Questions owners ask us

What is a marketing operations system for a home service business?

A marketing operations system is the set of tools and routines that handle the four jobs of growing a home service business without depending on the owner's memory. It brings every inquiry into one place, follows up on every quote, keeps the schedule and paperwork running, and stays in touch with past customers.

What are the four jobs that grow a home service business?

The four jobs are Getting Found, Reply/Follow Up, Operations and Word of Mouth, or GROW for short. Most owners are strong at one or two of them, and nobody in the business owns the rest. A marketing operations system gives each job a process that keeps running while you are out on a job.

How do I stop losing leads that come in from different places?

Start by getting every inquiry into one list. Phone calls, web forms, texts, and marketplace leads should all land in the same place, with the spam filtered out before anyone has to read it. Then make sure the owner gets an alert for each new inquiry and a list each morning of the calls still waiting.

Does the Home Service Guild system work with Housecall Pro?

Yes. For LiveWell Mobility we pulled every inquiry into one list and integrated it with their Housecall Pro account, so the office and the crews see the same inquiries, quotes, and jobs in one place.

Do I have to replace the software I already use?

No. The system connects to the field service software you already use, like Housecall Pro, and to the accounts you already have. The goal is to make the tools you pay for work together.

Who owns the website and accounts you set up?

You do. Everything we set up is in your name, so you never have to ask an agency for a login to your own business.

Which home service trades do you work with?

Our focus is plumbing, HVAC and electrical companies. We also work with roofing, accessibility and mobility, fencing, garage door, general contracting, handyman, junk removal, landscaping and lawn care, painting, pest control, pool service, pressure washing, residential cleaning, restoration, and tree service companies. Every trade has its own challenges, and the same four jobs still need a system to handle them.

Who is behind Home Service Guild?

Home Service Guild is run by Robert and Stacy Earl. Robert spent more than twenty years in real estate and has worked with every trade on this site, as a business partner and on behalf of homeowners, and he holds current Google certifications in Google Ads Search, Conversion Optimization, and Google Analytics. Together they build the marketing, the pipeline, and the follow-up for home service businesses, then hand it over so the owner keeps everything.
