New Playbook Shows Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical Companies How to Use Housecall Pro Correctly
The Housecall Pro Playbook by Robert Earl is for owners who already pay for the software and owners considering it
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., October 31, 2026 - Home Service Guild has published The Housecall Pro Playbook: The Customer Journey That Grows Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical Companies, the second book by Robert Earl. It shows owners who already pay for Housecall Pro how to use it correctly as they grow, and shows owners considering it what a correct setup takes before they commit. The book follows the customer across fifteen stops, from the first call to the referral. It is available now on Amazon in paperback and for Kindle.
Most home service owners bought Housecall Pro hoping it would end the chaos. Then the leads still sat, the estimates still went cold, and reviews still depended on who remembered to ask. The book argues that the software was doing its job, and that nobody had decided who runs each stop.
Earl organizes the fifteen stops under four jobs: Getting Found, Reply/Follow Up, Operations and Word of Mouth. Along the way, the book explains why a like isn't a lead and why the review is part of the job. It also covers 33 lead sources that show where work really comes from, and five morning lists that keep follow-up from slipping.
"The customer takes that journey whether you design it or not," Earl said. "When you design it, there's somebody waiting at every stop to hand the customer along to the next one."
The book stays with the ideas and is not a click-by-click setup manual. Its eight worksheets are meant to be filled in with a pencil and require no changes to any settings. Three shops that appear throughout, a plumbing company, an HVAC company and an electrical company, are composites Earl invented to illustrate the ideas, and they do not represent real businesses or results.
