Google Ads for home service companies

A water heater gives out early on a Sunday, and the homeowner searches "water heater replacement" while the shower runs cold. Ads often sit at the top of that search. The company with an ad there, a clear page behind it and someone answering the phone has a real shot at the job that day.

Google search ads are often called PPC, short for pay per click, because you pay each time someone clicks your ad. They put your company in the results when someone searches for the work you do. We build and run these campaigns for home service companies and judge each campaign by the calls and booked jobs it produces.

What we set up and run

  • Campaigns built around the services you want more of and the areas you serve
  • Ads that send homeowners to a page about that service
  • Call ads that let a homeowner phone you straight from the search results
  • A list of searches we keep your ads away from, such as job seekers and do-it-yourself questions
  • Tracking for every call and form that comes from an ad
  • Regular reviews of the actual words people searched before they clicked

Built around calls and booked jobs

Clicks are easy to count, but they say little about whether the phone rang. We set up tracking that records each call and form from an ad. Then we follow those inquiries to see which ones became booked jobs. When a campaign brings plenty of clicks and few jobs, we change it or pause it, and the budget moves to the searches that fill the schedule. Choosing which searches to pay for

Some searches come from homeowners ready to book, such as your trade plus "near me" or "emergency." Others come from people researching prices, comparing options or looking for a job at your company. We pick the searches that match the work you want and keep your ads off the rest. Once the ads are running, we read the search terms people actually used, and that list shapes where the money goes next. Google also runs pay-per-lead ads for local trades, and our Google Local Services Ads page covers how those work.

Setting hours and areas for your ads

Google Ads lets us choose the days and hours your ads appear and the areas where they show. We set both around how your business actually runs. That can mean ads running only when someone can answer the phone, or ads that cover only the towns your trucks reach. If you are weighing search ads against social ads, Google ads or Facebook ads compares the two.

An account your business owns

The Google Ads account belongs to your business from the first day. It holds every dollar spent and every call those dollars brought in, and that history stays with you. Search ads are one part of all our services, and Facebook ads reach the homeowners who are not searching yet.

Questions owners ask

How much should a home service company spend on Google Ads?

It depends on your trade, your town, the season and how many jobs you can take on. We will not quote a typical figure without looking at your market. We set a starting budget with you, watch what it brings in and adjust it based on booked jobs.

Can you take over a Google Ads account someone else built?

Yes. We start by reviewing what has been running and which searches brought in calls. Then we keep what works and rebuild the rest.

How soon will I know whether the ads are working?

Ads can start showing soon after Google approves them, which is much faster than search pages. Knowing whether they pay off takes enough calls to compare, and how long that takes depends on your budget and your trade.

Do Google ads work for planned projects as well as emergencies?

Yes, as long as homeowners search for the work. Someone pricing a new roof or a bathroom remodel searches too, usually over a longer stretch than someone with a burst pipe. We build those campaigns differently and expect the calls to come more slowly.
