SEO: getting your home service company found in Google

A homeowner notices a brown stain spreading across the bedroom ceiling and types "roof leak repair" and the name of her town into Google. The companies she sees first have pages and profiles that tell Google plainly what they do and where they do it.

SEO is short for search engine optimization. It is the work of helping Google understand your business well enough to show it to people searching for your trade in your area. We do that work for home service companies through the website, the Google Business Profile and the other places your business appears online.

What our SEO work covers

  • A website page for each service you offer and for the areas you serve, written in the words homeowners use
  • Articles that answer the questions your office hears every week
  • A complete Google Business Profile with your current services, hours, photos and service area
  • The same business name, address and phone number on the directory sites where homeowners and Google look you up
  • Tracking that shows which pages and searches lead to calls

Pages written around what homeowners search

Homeowners rarely search for a company by name. They search for the problem, like a furnace that clicks and will not light. Or they search for a price, like what it costs to put in a new water heater. A website with a single "services" page has nothing to match those searches.

We build a page for each service you want more of and for each area you serve. We also write articles that answer the questions your crew already answers on job sites. Once a homeowner lands on one of those pages, the page has to earn the call, and what a home service website needs covers that side. If the site itself needs rebuilding, our website design for contractors covers how we build one. For roofing companies, roofing SEO covers the storm searches and the long replacement research that roofers depend on.

Your Google Business Profile and the map

When someone nearby searches for your trade, Google shows local results on Search and on Google Maps, and many homeowners call straight from them. Your Google Business Profile supplies the information in those results. We fill it out completely, keep its services and service area in line with your website, and add photos from real jobs. The details are in what a Google Business Profile should include.

How we judge whether the work is paying off

Rankings move from week to week, and on their own they tell you little about the business. We look at which pages bring visitors from Google, how many of those visitors call or fill out a form, and whether those inquiries become booked jobs. If a page draws visitors and no calls, we rewrite it. If a service keeps bringing in work, it gets more pages and articles. Nobody can promise you a particular spot in Google, and we will not.

Search work that stays with your company

SEO builds up over time, so it matters who owns it. We set up the website, your Google Business Profile and the Google accounts that measure search traffic in your company's name, so every page we write stays with the business. The same clear pages also help AI tools describe you, which we cover under AEO. The rest of what we do is on all our services.

Questions owners ask

How long does SEO take for a home service company?

We cannot give you an honest date. Google decides when to revisit and rank a page, and that depends on your trade, your town and how many companies compete there. Search work is slower to start than ads, which is one reason we track calls from the first month.

Do I need a blog?

You need pages that answer the questions homeowners search. Whether those pages sit in a section called a blog matters much less than whether each one answers a real question clearly. We write them as articles on your website.

Can you do SEO for a company that serves several towns?

Yes. We build pages for the towns and areas you actually serve, each with real information about your work there. We keep the service area on your Google Business Profile in line with those pages. We do not publish pages that repeat the same text with only the town name changed.

What if someone else built my website?

We can work on the site you have, as long as you can give us access to it. If the current site makes changes hard, we can rebuild it.

Will SEO replace my Google ads?

The two work at different speeds. Ads put you in front of searchers as soon as they run, and search pages build up over time. Many companies use both and set the balance by which one brings in booked jobs.
