Housecall Pro
Switching to Housecall Pro from another program, spreadsheets or paper
We move your customers and job history into Housecall Pro from another program, spreadsheets or paper, and clean out duplicates on the way. Then we train your team online before you go live.
Owners worry most about losing their customer history when they switch. Years of customers, past jobs and notes sit in the old program, a set of spreadsheets or a filing cabinet in the office. That history tells your office who to call back and what was done at each address.
Home Service Guild plans your move to Housecall Pro around keeping that history and cleaning it up on the way. We set up the new account as one part of the four jobs. Every inquiry lands in one list connected to it, open quotes get followed up and past customers hear from you. Every account is set up in your name.
Takes a minute. Our team will get back to you.
Where your records are coming from
Every switch starts from a different place, and we plan the move around yours.
- From another field service program, we work with what the old system can export and match it to the fields in Housecall Pro. Leaving Jobber and still deciding? You can compare Jobber and Housecall Pro side by side first.
- From spreadsheets, we gather every sheet your office uses and combine them into one list.
- From QuickBooks, which Housecall Pro can import customers from, we decide with you whether it holds your most current records.
- From paper, we agree with you which records matter going forward and how they get into the new account.
What Housecall Pro can bring over
Housecall Pro can import customers and jobs from an Excel or CSV file. The import can include customer details, payment and invoice data, job tags, lead sources, and scheduled and completion dates. Your price book can come over from a spreadsheet too, with services, materials, prices and costs. On the Max plan, Housecall Pro's own data import team can bring in customers, job history, equipment and price book data. We work out with you which route fits your records and your plan.
Cleaning your records before the move
Old systems pile up duplicate customers, people with two addresses and jobs filed under the wrong name. Housecall Pro recommends importing from a single source, so we work out with you which system holds the most current information. We sort out duplicates and old records before the import. When your office opens the new account, the history it sees has already been checked.
Going live on a tested account
We set up the new account and test it with real jobs from your business. Then we fix whatever the test turns up. Your team switches over on a date you choose, after the account has been tested. You decide how long to keep the old system around for reference.
Training your team on the new system
All training is online. We train your office team and your field techs in live sessions on your new account, using your own customers, job types and prices. The office learns the screens it uses every day, and the techs learn what they need on a job site. Your team keeps recorded walkthroughs for new hires and refreshers. Our Housecall Pro setup and training page covers everything else we set up.
Connecting the rest of your business at the switch
A switch is a good time to connect everything else to the new account. We bring your calls, web forms, texts and marketplace leads into one list connected to Housecall Pro, as described on our page about getting every inquiry into Housecall Pro. If your old prices lived in someone's head, our page on the Housecall Pro price book shows how we build one around the way you quote.

Questions owners ask
Will we lose our customer history?
We plan the move around keeping it. We review what your old system can export, clean it up with you and check the records in Housecall Pro after the import. Anything that cannot come over cleanly gets flagged before go-live, so you can decide what to do with it.
Can you move us over from paper records?
Yes. We agree with you which records matter going forward and plan how they get into the new account.
Do we need the Max plan to switch?
No. Housecall Pro lets you import from a spreadsheet file without the Max plan. The Max plan adds help from Housecall Pro's own data import team, and we help you decide whether you need it.
Are you part of Housecall Pro?
No. Home Service Guild is independent of Housecall Pro. Your new account is in your name from the start.
How long does a switch take?
That depends on how many records you have, how many places they come from and how many people need training. You get a written plan before any work starts.
