Plumber SEO: more booked plumbing jobs from Google

Picture a homeowner whose basement floor drain backs up on a Saturday morning. She searches for a drain cleaner with the name of her town, calls the second company she sees, and a plumber has the line clear before lunch. Three weeks later it backs up again. This time the plumber runs a camera down the line, finds roots in the old clay pipe and writes a quote for a sewer line repair. The company she found on a Saturday morning search is now in line for the biggest plumbing job she will pay for this year, and the plumbers who weren't on her screen never knew the job existed.

Plumber SEO is the work of helping Google understand which plumbing jobs your company does and which towns you do them in, so Google shows you to homeowners nearby when they search. As a marketing agency for plumbing, HVAC and electrical companies, we do that work through your website, your Google Business Profile, your reviews and the listings where homeowners check you out. Then we make sure the calls it brings in get answered and the quotes get followed up. It is the plumbing side of our SEO for home service companies.

Why plumbing searches are worth showing up for without paying per click

Plumbing has some of the most expensive searches in home service advertising. Homeowners in the US search "emergency plumber near me" about 135,000 times a month, and advertisers paid an average of about $77 for each click on it. "Water heater repair near me" drew about 90,500 searches a month at about $48 a click. The figures are US monthly averages from Google's own advertising data for the year to October 2026.

Ads pay their way for plenty of plumbers, and we run them too. A page that shows up for a drain or water heater search is different because it keeps bringing visits without a charge for each one. Plumbing demand also holds up through the year. In the same data, drain cleaning and water heater searches in the busiest month ran about twice the slowest month, so a plumbing page that starts bringing calls in spring is still working in winter.

Pages for drains, water heaters and sewer lines

Homeowners search for the problem in front of them: a slow drain, a water heater leaking into the garage, a sewage smell in the basement. Each of those problems needs its own page that names it, says what you do about it, shows the towns you work in and puts the phone number where a thumb can reach it. A single services page with one line for each job has nothing to match those searches.

The three jobs lead into each other, and the pages should as well. A drain cleaning visit is often the first time a plumber sees a house, and a camera inspection on a line that keeps clogging is how a sewer repair gets found. Water heater searches come in two kinds. One heater failed this morning, and the homeowner hires whoever answers. The other is a planned replacement or a tankless upgrade, and that homeowner compares companies and reads before calling. How plumbers get more water heater replacement jobs covers both. We link the pages so a homeowner who lands on the drain page can find the sewer page, and the other way around.

Your Google Business Profile and the map

For emergency searches, many homeowners call straight from the map and never open a website. Google says its local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and that prominence draws on things like how many reviews you have and how many websites link to you. Google also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

Most owner-run plumbing companies work from a home or a shop that customers never visit. We set up the profile as a service-area business with the home address kept off the map, choose the plumbing categories that match your work, and build a services list that lines up with your website pages. How a plumber should set up a Google Business Profile walks through each step.

What happens when a search turns into a call

A page that ranks still loses the job if nobody answers. A homeowner with water on the kitchen floor at 9 at night calls down the list until someone picks up. A homeowner pricing a sewer line repair asks two or three plumbers and usually goes with the one who gets back first and stays in touch.

That is why we set up the search work and the follow-up together. When a call from search rings out, the caller gets a text from your company on your business number, and the reply goes to whoever is on call. Our missed call text back page shows the messages. Every inquiry lands on one list with its source attached, inside your Jobber or Housecall Pro account if you use one, and every quote gets a person who owns it and a reminder until the homeowner gives an answer. We don't answer your phones. Your people do, because they know the schedule and the work. Handling emergency calls and routine jobs on the same day covers how to sort the two.

How we measure plumber SEO

We judge plumber SEO by booked jobs and treat rankings as a side note. The monthly report shows which pages brought visitors from Google, how many of those visitors called, texted or filled out a form, and how many became quotes and booked jobs, split by drains, water heaters, sewer lines and the rest of your work. The numbers come from your own Jobber or Housecall Pro account and phone records, so you can check any of them.

If the water heater page brings visits and no calls, we rewrite it. If sewer line inquiries keep turning into signed jobs, that work gets more pages and more towns. Nobody can honestly tell you when a page will rank, because it depends on how many plumbers compete in your area and how established your site and profile already are. We track calls from the first month so you can see what is moving, and if you need calls sooner, Google Local Services Ads can carry the phone while the search work builds.

Questions owners ask

What is plumber SEO?

Plumber SEO is the work of getting a plumbing company's website and Google Business Profile in front of homeowners who search for plumbing work in its area. It covers a page for each job and town you serve, a complete profile, reviews and consistent listings. The aim is calls and booked jobs from homeowners who didn't know your name before they searched.

Do I need a separate page for every plumbing service and every town?

You need one for each job you want more of and each town you actually work in. Most plumbing companies start with the three or four jobs that pay the bills, such as drains, water heaters and sewer lines, and the towns closest to the shop, then add pages as the calls show what is working. Each town page carries real jobs from that town. We don't publish copies of one page with only the town name changed.

Can you guarantee my plumbing company the top spot on Google?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Google decides the order of its results, and it says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. We build the pages, profile and reviews Google looks at, and we show you which of them bring in calls.

Will SEO bring in emergency calls at night?

It can put you in front of homeowners searching at night, mostly through the map. Whether those calls become jobs depends on whether someone answers. If you take night work, urgent texts and calls go to whoever is on call. If you don't, your profile hours and your text back should say when you open, so the homeowner knows to expect your call in the morning.

Is SEO better than buying plumbing leads?

They do different jobs. Bought leads can start right away, some lead services sell the same lead to more than one plumber, and the leads stop when the payments stop. Pages and a profile take longer to build, and the calls they bring come to you alone. Many plumbers do some of both and judge each by the booked jobs it brings in.

Who owns the website and Google Business Profile?

Your company does. We set up the website, the Google Business Profile and the accounts that measure search traffic in your company's name, so every page we write stays with the business.
